Two detectives are investigating a string of murders that have since gone cold. After a mix up, the protagonist ends up with the evidence and finds something that the detectives had previously missed. They will have to work together to bring the killer to justice.
Positives: 1. You had a wide variety of shots with a good knowledge of shot types and angles 2. The idea to have two of the same backpacks be involved was clever
Improvements: 1. There were numerous discontinuous elements and jumps. For example, during the scene where he picks up the flashlight from the table, he was already holding it in the previous shot. The editing continuity overall was subpar. 2. The camera was out of focus for the majority of the film. This was detrimental because I noticed it from the very first shot and it lasted for the majority of the film.
Positives: - I really liked the credits. Some would say they were too long but I thought it was unique and a fun way to spotlight your crew. - I think you have a pretty good story. I wish it was developed and we got to know the characters a little more.
Improvements: - It seemed like a lot of these lights were practical. If you have access to light- use them to get contrast on the face. Otherwise it doesn't look stylized and limits the believability of the world you created. At 2:27 when the hero turns on the flashlight and the light bounces to give a soft glow to the face is perfect.
Positives: The lighting was consistent throughout the piece and worked well with the story. The characters were convincing and held the viewer's attention.
Improvements: The plot and character development could have been more clear. Overall the plot felt somewhat rushed. The pacing could have been improved to keep the story moving. The audio could have benefited from stronger music choices and the use of sound effects.
