  • 4/27 10:07 am - POSITIVES: Nice film noir touch in the opening, esp. the blowing crumpled paper and melancholy music bed @:11. Good music bed choices that transition well from one to another, supporting the mood of the scenes. ...AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT: STORY is a bit thin... what "decisions" do the brainwashed viewers make that increase views for the broadcaster's newscast? Not clear--need a few more clues here. Story needs 1 or more characters that are trying to fight AGAINST the imaginary virus narrative, instead of just, "let me out of here" when they are abducted. TECH: Needs more variety in shot composition & framing--too many "victims" shot dead center with no camera movement.

Positives: The trailer for "The Informant" does a good job to draw in the audience with strong, rhythmic music editing. There is a lot of impressive camerawork and lighting here - the use of pools of light in the low-light sequences is strong.

Improvements: The plot of the trailer seems to be a little convoluted (such as the introduction of the Zolotovs), so maybe there is a way to make each of the characters more visually distinct/separated? The sound mix could use improvement - it is challenging to hear characters speaking over the guitar track (even though the guitar track works well to drive the momentum of the trailer.

Positives: Wow! That was a lot. A lot of good things. First off, the acting wasn't shakespeare but it was kinda perfect for what was goin on here. The story was twisty and turny and the action never let up. This was definitely not boring. Killer soundtrack.

Improvements: Dragged at times. Pacing could have been a bit tighter to keep up with the story. And maybe lose the labels on clothing? That was a but distracting.

Positives: The overall pacing of your project is well crafted. You keep the story moving and have a good selection of shots. The cutting to the drum beat of the black and white images and several live action clips a few seconds later was a great idea. It changes the intensity of your project, which is what you probably wanted to achieve at that point of the trailer.

Improvements: Consider shooting the entire project at night. Look at the way you lit the final shot. This is very effective. Try lighting all of the night shots in a similar way. The dark shadow on the ground in the shot at 31 seconds looks great until you show the full body. Splash a little light on the character's face or add a back light to create a deep shadow on his face.
