  • 4/27 10:26 am - The audio mix was great. Would like some room sound to pick up applause and make it feel live. Good choice of transition for the pace of the song. Good use of the off-stage camera angle. Let the zoom-out come to a stop before cutting away. I enjoyed it very much.
  • 4/27 7:49 am - Critique primarily for director: 0:17 - The 180-degree line is crossed. All cameras should be on one side of it or the other. Awkward cutting from rock-solid tripod shots to hand-held shots then back; inconsistent style. 0:53 - Awkward cutting from wide-to-wide; also, allow the zoom to complete before cutting. The main/wide cam's framing is obviously to include the top left & right projection screens but the effect & balance is negated by the empty space between them. 1:03 - Don't take a camera while a zoom/pan/tilt is in progress. Hoped for at least one audience reaction shot & one left-to-right pan of as many dancers as possible framed head-to-shoulders to maximize their intensity. Expected all/most cuts on beats. Clean audio.
  • 4/13 10:19 am - Thank you for your entry and sharing your creation with us. I very much enjoyed viewing your submission. Just a few observations. Good pacing and shot takes. Perhaps blend in some tighter shots from your front of stage camera. Audio was nicely mixed. Thank you again for entering.

Positives: -great variety of shots that were fluid and showed creativity and allowed the viewer to see the dance routing from multiple angles. -awesome job changing the shots with purpose and using the wide shots when they were most beneficial to the viewer

Improvements: -a few close up shots of people's faces dancing could add a bit more variety -consider starting with wider, establishing shots at the top to give the audience a full picture of the performance, then cut to your medium shot

Positives: Great mix of camera angles and camera locations. I liked that the directing for the most part was following the music and camera transitions and movements were taken by the beat.

Improvements: Being there was a large group of dancers, if the up close camera angle's were a little wider at times other than the super wide shot, we would see faces of the dancers off to the side. Overall great work!!

Positives: Really well done production - it was clear that this had been thought out and rehearsed. Directing was very purposeful and well paced, and the camera work was excellent throughout. Loved the mixture of camera movements - great mix between zooming in and zooming out, and everything was very slow and controlled the entire time.

Improvements: Would have liked a little bit of NAT sound mixed in at the end to be able to hear (what I assume was) applause from the audience. This was really great overall so I am nitpicking here, but the widest head-on shot was a little too wide for my taste - would have preferred it to be tilted down and cropped in slightly to avoid seeing the screens on the back of the stage. Again, nitpicking.
